These are not abstract policy debates. These are the daily struggles of families in Orléans East-Cumberland, and they are the fights I will take to City Hall.

Every morning, families in Orléans wake up not knowing if their bus will show up. Seniors miss medical appointments. Students are late for exams. Workers lose wages. Newcomers struggle to access job interviews and language classes. This is not a minor inconvenience, it is a breakdown of the social contract.
The LRT extension, the project that was supposed to transform Orléans transit, remains stuck in bureaucracy while costs balloon.
Yvette's commitment: Buses every 3 to 5 minutes on major routes. Regular frequency in all neighbourhoods: St-Joseph, Tenth Line, Fallingbrook, Cumberland Village, Cardinal Creek, Trim-Millennium. Return of direct express bus to downtown (30 minutes). A light rail that passes every 5 minutes at peak hours, once full reliability is restored. A network inspired by the best international practices, efficient, fast, and equitable.

With the federal government returning to 4–5 days in the office, we have a once-in-a-generation opportunity to bring a federal government hub right here to Orléans East-Cumberland.
Keep Ward 1 skills and talent working in Ward 1, not commuting west. When our neighbours work locally, our businesses thrive, our property values rise, and our community bonds strengthen.
Yvette's commitment: Champion a federal government hub for Orléans East-Cumberland, create a Ward 1 business growth program, and fight for infrastructure that keeps local talent working locally.
Our young people are our greatest asset, yet too many leave Orléans because they cannot find opportunities here. We will create the Orléans Youth Fund, a dedicated resource that connects young talent with local employers, funds skills training, and provides mentorship pathways.
We will also establish a Youth Center that offers safe spaces, mentorship programs, and creative outlets. Every young person in Ward 1 deserves a place to grow, learn, and belong.
Yvette's commitment: Create the Orléans Youth Fund, establish a Youth Center with safe spaces and mentorship, and build partnerships with local employers to keep young talent in Ward 1.
Two more priorities that define who we are and where we are going.
Our linguistic heritage must be protected and celebrated. Every resident should have the right to access equitable services in both French and English. I will guarantee the enforcement of Ottawa's bilingual status (By-law No. 2001-170) and ensure no resident of Cumberland ever feels isolated or disconnected from Orléans-East.
I will also fight for the protection of Indigenous languages, working closely with Indigenous communities to support the revitalization and transmission of their languages, strengthening local language preservation initiatives and Indigenous educational programs, and ensuring these languages are visible, respected, and fully supported throughout Orléans–East–Cumberland.
We grow stronger when every part of our ward moves forward together. I will establish a music day program to promote amateur and professional musicians, celebrating the rich cultural tapestry of our community.
Yvette's commitment: Ensure every city service in Ward 1 is fully bilingual, fight for dedicated francophone funding, establish a music day program, and create a Francophone Advisory Committee with real decision-making power.

Seniors in Orléans East-Cumberland are the backbone of our neighbourhoods, yet too often, their voices are overlooked at City Hall. From rising property taxes to inadequate transit access, from long waits for home care to the lack of affordable supportive housing, our seniors face real challenges that demand real solutions.
I will fight for senior-friendly infrastructure, better sidewalks, clearer signage, accessible public spaces, and reliable transit that doesn't leave them stranded. I will push for affordable linked housing for seniors so they can age with dignity in the community they helped build. And I will ensure their concerns are heard at every council meeting, not just during election season.
Yvette's commitment: Champion senior-friendly infrastructure, advocate for affordable supportive housing, and ensure seniors have a permanent seat at the decision-making table.
Young professionals are leaving Orléans because they cannot afford to stay. Seniors are downsizing into cramped apartments because their fixed incomes cannot keep up with rent increases. Families are doubling up, two generations under one roof, not by choice, but by necessity.
We must advance affordable housing and invest in supportive linked homes for seniors. The developer-friendly approach at City Hall has produced luxury condos while ignoring the housing crisis at our doorstep. We need a councillor who will say no to unchecked gentrification and yes to inclusionary zoning, rent stabilization, and non-profit housing partnerships.
Yvette's commitment: Push for 20% affordable units in all new developments, protect existing rental stock from demolition, invest in supportive linked homes for seniors, and fast-track partnerships with non-profit housing providers.

The City of Ottawa offers a Contribution Rebate Program for individuals residing in Ontario who contribute $25.01 or more to a participating candidate. After your donation, the campaign issues you an official contribution receipt. You then submit a rebate application to the City of Ottawa's Elections Office with that receipt, and the City pays your rebate directly. The maximum rebate is $75 per person.
